Understanding CBE means engaging with a stable structure in Brussels, able to interpret Europe and turn it into guidance, project development and value for local territories.

More than thirty years of European evolution

CBE-GEIE was established in 1992, in the context of the development of the European Single Market, to strengthen the connection between its Members and the institutions of the European Union. The photograph of the inaugural reception in Brussels, in November 1992, captures the beginning of a permanent presence at the heart of Europe.
1992–2000

As European policies and instruments expanded, CBE-GEIE developed increasingly targeted information, guidance and advisory services. The historical screenshot of the 2008 website reflects this phase: the GarEuropa, ImpresaEuropa and Check-up Europa services, the Members of the time and CBE’s participation in the WOR.T.Y.E. project under Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs.
2001–2010

From 2011 onwards, CBE-GEIE strengthened its participation in European programmes and became directly involved in transnational partnerships. The image of the 20th Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs Network Meeting, held in Athens in 2017, represents CBE’s transition towards a more operational role in European projects and international networks.
2011–2021

In recent years, CBE-GEIE has consolidated a model that integrates information, guidance, advisory support, catalogue services and European project development. The meeting room at the Brussels office now represents the European Office of the Members: a place for work, dialogue and support serving clients and local territories.
2022–Present
Three dimensions, one mission
A European presence since 1992
A consortium rooted in local territories
Members at the heart of the EEIG
The Members are at the heart of CBE-GEIE’s identity and form the foundation on which the Grouping has built more than thirty years of European activity.
The membership is composed primarily of territorially rooted banks, complemented by qualified organisations and institutions. Different in history, size and areas of activity, they share the common objective of strengthening the connection between local territories and the European Union.
Through its Members, CBE-GEIE maintains a close connection with local economic and social ecosystems, fostering the circulation of information, opportunities, expertise and project ideas between Brussels and local territories.
