CBE-GEIE at the European Parliament: AI, accessibility and inclusive innovation
CBE-GEIE was pleased to participate in the institutional event “Artificial Intelligence for Accessibility: From Innovation to European Standard”, held at the European Parliament in Brussels on 14 July 2026.
The event brought together representatives from European institutions, civil society, research and industry to discuss how artificial intelligence can help remove communication barriers and advance accessibility, inclusion and human-centred innovation. Particular attention was given to AI-driven sign language translation and digital avatars as practical tools for making services and information more accessible.
Among the contributors were 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶, Secretary-General of the European Parliament; MEPs Pietro Fiocchi, 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗚𝗲𝗺𝗺𝗮, Antonella Sberna and Francesco Torselli; Angelo Raffaele Cagnazzo, President of Ente Nazionale Sordi ETS-APS; Gianmarco Biagi, President of AICIM – Associazione Italiana Cultura d’Impresa e Management; and Valter Mavrič, Director-General for Translation at the European Parliament.
For CBE-GEIE, this dialogue is closely connected to our commitment to inclusive skills development. As a partner in the 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗞𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗦𝟰𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗙 project, co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme, we contribute to developing accessible and innovative training opportunities that equip Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing VET students with green, digital and entrepreneurial skills, improving their inclusion and their connection with the labour market.

The event was a valuable reminder that accessibility must remain at the heart of Europe’s digital transformation. Meaningful innovation can only happen through cooperation between institutions, civil society, education and the private sector.
